Off to the races!

Today was a bit of a stressful day, last night the 4 peaks race organizers posted that there would be a possibility of cancellation due to the recent flooding. All over Central Europe the constant rain has caused catastrophic flooding, even here where I am it's been bad enough to close roads and paths. I can control many things when it comes to bike racing but the weather, well your at mercy of Mother Nature. So all day I kept checking on for updates, nothing new was being posted so I went for a ride, just an easy taper spin to warm up my legs a bit. No climbing, just stay in the valley and ride thru the various towns. I was really enjoying myself and thinking about how lucky I am to have experienced small town farm living here in Europe, back then it was just visits to Oma, now I realize it was so much more, something that rarely exists in this day & age. Even here it's still a small community but has had big changes, the corner grocery store where the owner always gave sausage when we came in to buy ice cream is now a casino!! I couldn't believe it :( so while riding today and touring around the town I took myself back to how I remembered it, I rode the whole hour smiling in my own little world, a world I was fortunate enough to have lived in.

So beautiful around here!

After returning from the ride one of my best friends here in Germany stopped by for a visit, Jurgen and I go way back, he has been to the US to visit us a few times, now he goes back all time and leads motorcycle tours thru the western US, he actually had just returned from a European tour. We talked about old & new. After he left I checked the website to see that it had been updated and that we would be racing, and that course changes are expected and will be explained to us each day, Game On! I'm excited but my Aunt on the other hand was hoping for a cancellation, she lives in this big home alone and has enjoyed my company, and that has gone both ways! I talked to my cousin who is going with me and we plan to leave earlier because so many roads into Bavaria are still closed. If Internet is available my next post will come from the Alps!

PS: please excuse grammar, spelling etc, I write these from my IPhone , no Internet here!
