Made it to Rome

After literally 24 hours of traveling and being up we (myself, my wife Pat, and our bestest friends Tanya and Derek) made it, Chicago, London, and our destination Rome Italy! 10 Hours of Flying did nothing to prepare us for the van ride from the airport to the our Villa, it was 30 minuets of sheer terror, with speeds up to 120 mph on narrow winding roads inches from traffic all around us, twice the driver used angry hand signals and the not word to us the whole commute. We chose our Villa based on the view of the City, its the whole top floor of a very old building, we knew there would be no elevator and walked up the 5 flights of stairs, open the door and there it was the whole city of Rome from our beautiful deck !!! it was just as we had seen in the images.

Cheers from Rome!

Once settled in we opened a bottle of Presseco and enjoyed a drink on our deck where we relaxed for a bit and took in the view. After a few hours and a few bottles of wine we headed out for dinner, our Villa is located in the Trastevere neighborhood which is known for its many restaurants and corner bars so finding a place would be easy. After walking around a bit we find an outside table at place called La Scala its situated in front of a plaza and soon after sitting down we notice two men in the middle of the plaza that begin to play music and sing opera, a nice addition to our first dinner in Rome.  Still very travel weary we order a bottle a wine some appetizers and pasta's, I hate airplane food and it was nice to eat a real meal after almost of 48 hours of travel. Pat and I started out with prosciutto and mozzarella and for dinner I order Gnocchi Tarfuro, Gnocchi in butter, garlic, olive oil with slices of black truffle it was delicious. Tanya and Derek started out with a nice fresh Caprese salad and ordered spaghetti carbonara and ravioli pomodoro all of it looked and tasted outstanding.

Good Night Rome!

After walking back to the Villa we relax a bit more on the deck (fall asleep haha) and off to bed, man it felt so good to lie down in a bed again!
